Description

This is PK 104-29.1 or more commonly known as Jones 1, a Planetary Nebula in the constellation Pegasus, discovered in 1942 by Rebecca Jones of Harvard University.

The Oiii emission is slightly stronger than Ha and as the emissions almost perfectly overlap, the palette chosen makes it blueish-white, except at the center and just under the main nebula where the Ha dominates.

Jones 1 is a type IIIb planetary nebula, about 2300 light years away and with an angular size 5'-6' in diameter. The shell is of the 15th magnitude and the central star is of the 16th magnitude.

All exposures are unguided 120s at f/2 and binned 1x1. A dynamic combination of Ha and Oiii was used. Image is cropped and drizzled.

13h Ha
12h Oiii
